Week 15
9th December – Day 91
This Monday, we had a change of routine. Instead of my usual Hungarian lesson, we had a special program. Roli picked us up, and by 8:30 AM, we were at the youth center.
The reason? We met with a group of individuals from a social minority. Lana gave a presentation about herself, Georgia, and the city of Batumi, while I presented about myself and Germany, highlighting Berlin and Cologne.
Afterward, we cooked Mingrelian Khachapuri, a delicious variation of the traditional Georgian dish from the western region of Georgia. Unfortunately, Anna and Robi couldn’t join us as they were still unwell, which remained the case for the rest of their time in Szolnok.

10th December – Day 92
On Tuesday, we had planned to visit Szolnok’s Christmas market in the evening, but rain altered our plans. Instead, we gathered at the youth center and played a board game called BANG with Pisti, Roli, Richárd, Lana, András, and myself.
11th December – Day 93
Wednesday marked the Georgians’ last day in Hungary. We traveled to Kecskemét to meet Natia, another volunteer from Georgia. Natia had previously volunteered in Szolnok for two months and recently returned for a 10-month placement at a youth center in Kecskemét. She will later return to Szolnok.
The highlight of the day was a Georgian National Evening, where Lana and Natia gave a presentation about Georgia, performed a traditional dance, and shared Khachapuri.
Before the event, Pisti, Richárd, Roli, and I met with the youth center’s leader, who showed us Kecskemét’s Christmas market and treated us to Kürtőskalács (chimney cake).
After the event, we went to a pub with the attendees, including volunteers and friends from the youth center. It was a great opportunity to connect and meet a German volunteer working there.

12th December – Day 94
Thursday was bittersweet, as it was the day Lana, and the other Georgian volunteers ended their placement and returned home.
13th December – Day 95 and 14th December – Day 96
Friday and Saturday were quieter days, giving me time to work on a special project: a visual presentation for a concert planned for Sunday at the youth center.

15th December – Day 97
Sunday was concert day! The event featured guitar students performing songs from various countries around the world. My visualizer accompanied their performance, displaying the name of each country after the audience guessed the song’s origin. My job was to switch the slides—simple but rewarding!
This week was filled with cultural exchanges, heartfelt farewells, and creative projects. A blend of emotions and experiences that made it truly memorable!
